    We are seeking a Full-Time Embalmer/Funeral Director for our Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home and Moran & Goebel Funeral Home locations in Decatur, ILThis position will be responsible for all Care Center tasks such as cremation preparations, embalming, dressing, casketing, cosmetizing and capable of providing a high customer service level.

     

    This position would be perfect for an individual that prides themselves on what takes place “behind the scenes”, and the difference it makes in honoring the lives and dignity of those we serve. 

    Responsibilities

    • Honoring the deceased by respectfully performing the following duties:
      • Verifying identification and embalming authorization
      • Evening removals and transfers
      • Complete embalming, disinfecting, dressing, preparing and casketing the deceased using appropriate precautions and the highest standards
      • Performs duties with strict adherence to NorthStar’s policies and procedures, as well as federal/state/local regulations.
    • Conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional and caring manner
    • Ensure that flowers and other memorabilia are returned to the family after services
    • Maintain reverence and respect for the deceased at all times
    • Train staff and strictly enforce all logging, identification, casketing and cremation procedures

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • Current license or certification if required by state regulations
    • 1+ years of funeral industry experience
    • Professional communication skills
    • Experience handling sensitive situations in a professional manner
    • Understanding of the services and products available
    • Knowledge of current federal, state and local regulations related to the funeral industry
