  • Overview

    We are seeking a Director of Software Development for a full-time opportunity. The Director of Software Development will lead a team of Software Developers that supports existing IT applications and builds new tools for our business operations. The position will work closely with IT, external departments, and service providers to design, develop, maintain, and ensure quality delivery of application services.

     

    Our code base includes apps and features as follows: cloud communications, accounting software support, sales support tools, API integrations, IaaS, PaaS and SaaS integrations, contract order management system, mobile sites, and more.

     

    You must be an experienced team manager who is comfortable managing multiple priorities, projects and personalities. You must also be an experienced Scrum Master who can not only define the technical requirements according to your vision for the tech stack, but also keep the development team on track.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical leadership, vision, management, and mentoring for multiple software engineering teams, including external vendors
    • Adept at working across organizational boundaries and partnering with leadership while maintaining a strategic perspective regarding IT architecture and business needs
    • Managed full cycle development process
    • Gain a sound understanding of our development environment, identify technology gaps and lead projects to close those gaps
    • Drive technical development for IT projects based on project objectives and business requirements
    • Creation of project architecture and detailed design documentation per required deliverables
    • Participate in defect triage and work with project team to resolve prioritized defect fixes
    • Plan resource and infrastructure needs
    • Manage the IT application assets
    • Ensure that all activities support the application-related needs of our company by aligning priorities with the business needs
    • Create processes and supporting metrics to ensure efficiency and quality of application development implementation and maintenance
    • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for existing applications and servers

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Background

    • Strong hands-on technical experience: SQL, NET. WEB APIs, JAVA, Angular JS, Microservice architectures, .NET Framework C#, ASP.NET, Azure, GitHub, JIRA, Android, IOS etc.
    • Knowledge and experience with cloud-based architectures and delivery models
    • Experience working with hosting and cloud providers
    • Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, and Active Directory

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Background

    • Solid understanding and experience in software development lifecycle
    • Solid understanding of secure coding practices
    • IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, microservices, APIs
    • Experience dealing with legacy code base migrations
    • Software Architecture and Design
    • Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure

    Requirements and Qualifications

    Requirements

    • BS or Masters in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering or similar technical field with 8–10 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 5+ years of direct people management experience
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to travel periodically (California, Florida, Hawaii); travel expectation less than 20%
