NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Financial Analyst who will provide support to Senior Management on cross-business projects such as financial modeling, data analysis and risk management supporting NorthStar in their core business (owner/operator of funeral homes and cemeteries).  It requires the ability to balance multiple projects across vastly different functions, including Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management and Investment Research & Analysis under tight deadlines.  The ideal candidate will have expertise across all these fields.

• Design and implement dashboards using Excel and PowerBI to monitor marketplace dynamics, business trends, client behaviors, and internal operations on an ongoing basis 
• Create analytical tools using PowerBI, Excel, Adaptive Insights, Office Connect, and other industry specific software to work efficiently at scale
• Work closely with the database engineering team to maintain a company-wide database, enhance data collection, validate data integrity, accuracy, and consistency
• Translate broad questions into specific data plans for research and discovery, perform proactive data exploration, and communicate the results in a compelling way 
• Develop and maintain location level performance analyses for senior management to provide actionable insights into sales growth and cost savings
• Support quarterly external reporting and annual planning process for Financial Reporting, including monthly re-forecasting and the ability to prepare and maintain a three-statement model
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager

• 2-5 years' experience as a Financial Analyst
• Degree in finance or any other business-related discipline or equivalent knowledge/work experience
• Strong understanding of applied statistics and data science, including probability theory, convex optimization, linear algebra, time series models and other mathematical/statistical analysis 
• Proficiency in Adaptive Insights, Hyperion, Office Connect, PowerBI and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Ability to independently build and maintain quantitative financial models for liquidity forecast, valuation, risk management and pro forma
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into usable and manipulable scenarios for senior management
• Advanced quantitative aptitude and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to prioritize workflow and manage multiple projects with minimal to moderate direction
• Ability to work independently and with fellow employees as part of a transaction or project team
• Excellent communication skills
