I have enjoyed working in this industry for the last 15 years, and I feel that every year keeps getting better. We currently have an opening for a Sales Manager here in Decatur, Il. As the Sales Leader for this region, all the Sales Managers report directly to me. This opportunity might be slightly different if you work in the death care industry, as some other companies allow Operations to control sales. However, we are not like those companies as we believe in a true partnership at our locations. The Sales Manager and General Manager are business partners paired together to ensure our sites grow within the community.
As for my management style, you will never have to guess or wonder where you stand with me. I'm a very forward-thinking leader that gives it to you straight. If you are struggling, I will be there to help you with anything you need. If you need additional training, coaching, development, feedback, or just an ear to bend, I'm your guy. My only caution is that if you need someone with a very bubbly personality who tells you what you want to hear all the time, I might not be the right manager for you. Don't get me wrong; I am all about celebrating wins with you, cheering you on, and ensuring you know how appreciated you are. However, I'm not the kind of person who delivers cheap praise as flattery. Instead, I like my actions to tell you everything you need to know about me as I relate my management style to coaching. You don't hire a personal trainer to be your best friend; you hire a personal trainer to get in shape. My job is to coach and condition you to be the best Sales Manager you can be, and that is my commitment to you.
So, who exactly would we consider for this position? I prefer someone with some industry knowledge; however, that is not a deal-breaker. Too often, I have seen Sales Managers in this industry that believe their job is to manage from their office, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. I can assure you that it isn't going to work here. Instead, we want a Sales Leader that cares for their associates, is willing to train effectively, rides on appointments with associates, and positively motivates the staff. The lucky candidate will also be able to recruit new sales associates, use company-provided training platforms to certify each associate, and inspire the sales team daily. I want to talk to you if you possess these skills, regardless of your industry experience.
